    Temporal Variation of Indoor Aerosol in an Empty Room without Internal Particle Sources.

    We have measured size- and time- resolved indoor aerosol concentrations in an empty office without internal aerosol sources in dependence on ambient conditions. It was found that the indoor concentrations depend mainly on the ventilation rate and deposition rate. If the infiltration rate dominates the deposition losses the indoor aerosol concentrations can approach the outdoor ones. This was observed especially for the accumulation mode particles. To determine the size-dependent penetration factors anddeposition rates from the experimental results it would be necessary to measure independently the ventilation rates using some non-depositing substance, e.g. SF6.
