Calcined Ni-Al Layered Double Hydroxide as Catalyst for Total Oxidation of VOC: Effect of Precursor Crystallinity.

  • Original language description

The effects of hydrothermal treatment on properties and catalytic activity and selectivity in toluene and ethanol total oxidation of Ni-Al LDH precursors and related mixed oxides were examined. The crystalline LDH fraction and LDH crystallite size increased considerably with precursor hydrothermal treatment. However, only a slight effect of precursor hydrothermal treatment on crystallinity of the related Ni-Al mixed oxides obtained by calcination 450 °C was observed. The reducibility of NiO particles incalcined samples appears to be hindered considerably compared to the reducibility of pure NiO. Catalytic activity of the resulting Ni-Al mixed oxides was highest for sample prepared from the precursors hydrothermally treated for a short time (4 h). Theworst selectivity, i.e., the highest amount of acetaldehyde formed during total oxidation of ethanol, was found for the calcined Ni-Al LDH without hydrothermal treatment.

Kalcinované Ni-Al sloučeniny vrstevnatých hydroxidů jako katalyzátory pro totální oxidaci VOC.

  • Czech description

Byl prozkoumán vliv hydrothermálního zpracování na vlastnosti Ni-Al LDH prekursorů a katalytickou aktivitu a selektivitu odpovídajících směsných oxidů kalcinovaných (450 °C) při totální oxidaci toluenu a ethanolu. Hydrothermální zpracování významně zvýšilo podíl krystalického LDH a velikost krystalitů prekursorů, vlastnosti kalcinátů však podstatně neovlivnilo. Katalytická aktivita byla nejvyšší u vzorku zpracovávaného krátkou dobu (4 hod), nejhorší selektivita při oxidaci ethanolu byla nalezena u kalcinovaného vzorku Ni-Al LDH bez hydrothermálního zpracování.
