    Leuzea carthamoides is an adaptogenic plant containing biologically active compounds as ecdysteroids and guaianolide-type sesquiterpene lactones, conventionally extracted from the plant with ethanol. Ethanol-modified near-critical CO2 was used as selective solvent with the aim to increase the level of 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) in the extract from L. carthamoides roots and to remove selectively cynaropicrin, a sesquiterpene lactone of bitter taste, from the leaves. The extraction conditions were varied (pressure 20-28 MPa, temperature 40-60 ?C, ethanol concentration in the solvent 0-7.1 %) and the extraction yield and extract composition were compared with the results of ethanol extraction. Cynaropicrin was quantitatively removed from the leaves where 89% of 20E was retained. The extraction yield of 20E from roots with ethanol-modified CO2 was by 30 % lower than with ethanol but its concentration in the extract was by 67 % higher.

    Adaptogenní rostlina Leuzea carthamoides obsahuje biologicky aktivní látky jako ekdysteroidy a seskviterpenické laktony, které se z rostliny extrahují etanolem. S cílem zvýšit koncentraci 20-hydroxyekdysonu (20E) v extraktu z kořenů a odstranit z listů cynaropikrin, hořký seskviterpenický lakton, byl v této práci jako rozpouštědlo použit etanolem modifikovaný superkritický CO2. Extrakční podmínky byly tlak 20-28 MPa, teplota 40-60 ?C, koncentrace EtOH v CO2 0-7.1 %. Cynaropikrin byl kvantitativně odstraněn z listů, kde zůstalo 89 % 20E. Výtěžek 20E z kořenů byl sice o 30 % nižší než při konvenční extrakci EtOH, ale jeho koncentrace v extraktu byla o 67 % vyšší.
