The presented paper deals with analysis of the influence of the zero-sequence component of the stator currents on properties of three-phase induction machines. Connections between this component and the third harmonic waves of the current layer and fielddensity along the air gap are shown. The method of symmetrical components is employed to describe the induction machines, which enables the third space harmonics to be taken into account.
