Determination of the coefficient describing convection heat transfer from the heated metal body to mixture of air and water spray, as is characteristic for continual induction hardening, is an extremely difficult business. The coefficient is, in fact, acomplex temperature-dependent function that usually cannot be calculated using purely theoretical considerations.
