Laminar and turbulent transition of fine-grained slurries.
Original language description
The paper deals with experimental investigation of flow behaviour of fine-grained highly concentrated slurries (water mixtures of kaolin and ash-gypsum). Transition from laminar to turbulent regime results in an abrupt increase of the flow resistance andthe flow patterns becomes fundamentally different for the two regimes. The optimum operational condition is slightly above the laminar/turbulent transition point, where flow conditions should be often very attractive from an economic point of view.
