Effect of Particle Size Distribution on Pressure Drops of Complex Slurry

Result description

The present paper describes experimental investigation of the complex slurries focused on evaluation of the effect of particle size distribution and concentration on the slurry pressure drops vs. average velocity relationship in the laminar, transitionaland turbulent regimes. Sand slurries conveyed in water as well as in low and medium concentrated Kaolin slurries and fly and bottom ash slurries were used as model suspensions. Presence of fine, especially colloidal solid particles in a Newtonian liquidevokes a complex rheological behaviour of the slurry.

    Vliv zrnitostního rozdělení částic na tlakové ztráty komplexních suspenzí

    Článek se zabývá experimentálním výzkumem komplexních suspenzí zaměřeným na vliv zrnitostního rozdělení a koncentrace na závislost sklonu tlakové čáry na rychlosti proudění hydrosměsí v laminárním, přechodném a turbulentním režimu. Byly studovány suspenze písku ve vodě nebo málo a středně koncentrované kaolinové suspenzi a hydrosměsi s obsahem úletového i ložového popela. Přítomnost jemných, zejména koloidních částic v newtonské tekutině je příčinou komplexního reologického chování suspenze.
