Basset history force for the particle-particle collision

Result description

In fluid flows with solid particles the particle collisions with other particles are possible. The particle collision results in large particle acceleration during a small period of time. The integral associated with Basset force contains in its integrand the particle acceleration, therefore the acceleration due to the particle collision must be taken into account in numerical model of the fluid flows with solid particles. The formula for calculation the part of the Basset force related to the particlecollision is derived. The particle collision brings to a peak the increasing of the Basset force during the short time so that its impulse remains finite.
