Analysis of near bed particle movement in an open channel
Original language description
The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of impacts of saltating particles on a rough bottom in an open channel flow. A channel bottom was formed by a single layer of glass rounded bars placed across the channel width and perpendicularly to the flow. Particle trajectories were visualized with help of a high speed digital camera and consequently translational and angular velocities before and after impacts were determined. Based on the experimental data a simple 2D model predictingafter-impacts kinematics is proposed.
