Original language description
The paper describes the results of experimental investigation of mixture velocity and overall concentration effect on local concentration distribution of coarse particle-water mixture in the horizontal pipe. Graded basalt pebbles of mean diameter 11 mm were investigated in experimental pipeline loop of inner diameter 100mm. The concentration was measured with application of ?-ray densitometer. Mixture flow-behaviour and particles motion were investigated in a pipe viewing section. The study revealed that the coarse-grained mixtures were significantly stratified, particles moved principally along to the pipe invert, for higher and moderate flow velocities saltation becomes dominant mode of the sediment transport.
