Model of rough bed for numerical simulation of saltation
Original language description
The present paper offers a model of rough bottom for simulation of bed load transport. In the simulation, the bed load transport or sand motion happens in the open or close conduits with averaged turbulent flow. In the model, the channel bed consists ofidentical spherical particles distributed in space in a special way. In the vertical direction, the particles are dispersed according to a Gaussian distribution with a definite standard deviation. In the horizontal plane, the particles have a compact hexagonal packing. Hereby, a bed structure is described by two parameters: size of bed particles and their standard deviation in the vertical direction. A simple formula is proposed connecting bed roughness with the above-mentioned bed parameters. The dependencies of averaged saltation parameters (length and height of one jump) on bed structure are obtained here.
