Kinetic Electron Emission from Clean Polycrystalline Gold Induced by Impact of Slow C + , N + , O + , Ne + , Xe + , and Au + Ions.
Original language description
A new mechanism of slow-ion-induced kinetic electron emission from metallic targets is suggested. This model includes a many-electron process based on the assumption of spatial and temporal localization of electronic excitation in the impact zone. The theories discussed in this paper are compared with experimental data on kinetic electron emission polycrystalline gold bombarded by C+, N+, O+, Ne+, Ne o , Xe+ and Au+ with kinetic energies below -15 keV and perpendicular incidence on the surface.
