An integrated optic hydrogen sensor based on SPR on palladium.

  • Original language description

A small and efficient hydrogen sensor was realized using surface plasmon resonance in integrated optical waveguide. The attenuation coefficient of the device is modified by the presence of thin palladium layer whose optical constants are influenced by hydrogen concentration of the surrounding medium. A modal analysis of the sensor structure is performed and a simple model is proposed to assist in the structure design and optimisation. Finally, experimental results for hydrogen detection are presented.
