Acces and metro optical networks - state of the art and prospects.
Original language description
Implementation of metropolitan area networks is in full swing in many parts of the world and it seems that optical access networks will at last take off on a wider scale in some countries. Still, they present a bottleneck that has to removed in order tosatisfy the ever-growing demand for higher access bit rates. Technologies, architectures and services encountered in the optical access and metropolitan area networks, the state of affairs and the trends of development are discussed in the presentation.
