Kinetic electron emission from metal surfaces by slow Naˇions

Result description

In this paper the kinetic electron emission spectra from Al and from Au bombarded by Na ions are compared.The spectra from Al are due to Auger electrons from excited Al ions and due to electrons emitted from the valence band of Al, whereas in the case ofAu the electrons are emitted only from the Au valence band. The comparison of the spectra helps to clarify several aspects of hitherto not fully understood kinetic electron emission from solids.

    Práce je věnována srovnání kinetické elektronové emise z povrchu Al a z povrchu Au bombardovaných pomalými ionty Na. V případě Al energetické spectrum elektronů je superposice Auger spekter z emitovaných Al iontů a spektra excitovaných elektronů z vodivostního pásu Al ,v případě Au jsou detekovány pouze elektrony z vodivostního pásu Au. Srovnání spekter vede k dalšímu rozšíření poznání mechanismu dosud nevyjasněné elektronové emise z valenčních pásů.
