    Accessing stem cells via proteomics

  • Original language description

Stem cells have two important characteristics that distinguish them from other cells: the ability to self-renew through cell division for prolonged period and to differentiate into multiple cells with specialised functions. The availability of approachesto investigate at complex level epigenome and proteome including signal transduction pathways (phosphoproteome), has significantly contributed to basic understanding of stem cell biology and produced data characterising proteins involved in mechanisms that regulate stem cell proliferation and differentiation. More recently, Proteome Biology of Stem Cells, a joint initiative shared by International Society for Stem Cell Research and Human Proteome Organisation was established. Considering the many challenges in the field of stem cell biology, this initiative intends to be beneficial for many researchers and to increase the value of proteomics in these endeavours.

    Poznávání kmenových buněk prostřednictvím proteomiky

  • Czech description

Koncept tkáňových kmenových buněk jako pluripotentních progenitorů pro různé tkáně vedl ke zvýšenému zájmu o výzkum kmenových buněk. Dostupnost komplexních přístupů ke studiu epigenomu, proteomů a signáních cest významně přispívá k zásadnímu pochopení mechanismů, které regulují proliferaci a diferenciaci kmenových buněk. Nedávno byla tato aktivita povrzena ustavením iniciativy Proteomová Biologie Kmenových Buněk ve spolupráci ISSCR a HUPO.
