This article is dedicated to the original Czechoslovak-Mongolian expedition to Khöshöö Tsaidam in 1958 and Dr. Lumír Jisl, a famous archaeologist and orientalist, whom the realization of this expedition is owed to. This unique project helped not only tobuild the good reputation of Czech science, but it also brought very important new facts to light for the field of Mongolian history. This paper will summarize the old results and point to new steps that might be taken in this field.
