Agent-based Model of Agricultural Practices in Late Iron Age
Original language description
We apply the agent-based modelling and social simulation to better understand the Celtic society in Central Europe in the late Iron Age. Our objective is to determine under what conditions the collapse of the Celtic society might have taken place. The paper presents particular results, especially the model of agricultural practices that is essential for investigation of the carrying capacity of the settlement agglomeration. The model reuses the simulated time series of available workforce and actual consumption obtained from our previous model of the population dynamics. The model of agricultural practices allows archaeologists to test hypotheses related to intensive, extensive and mixed agricultural management applied around the particular settlement.
