Original language description

The stronghold of Libice entered history in the Chronicle written by Cosmas as the birthplace of St Adalbert and the seat of Slavník, his father. The reign of Slavník, who was followed by his son Soběslav, ended abruptly on 28th September 995 after an attack by Přemyslid soldiers when most of the members of the ruling family were slaughtered. The site of Libice is due to years of systematic archaeological fieldwork one of the best-known strongholds in Bohemia.
