Original language description

Here we report the finds of Shaqadud culture gouges from the site of Shaqadud, Sudan, located in the savannah hinterland about 50 km east of the Nile. Shaheinab-type gouges are iconic artefacts characteristic of Early Neolithic Nile Valley in central Sudan. The finds from Shaqadud are the first ones recorded that far from the Nile and document contacts between the Nile and savannah hinterland groups.
