Online Database of History of Sciences´ Archival Sources of the Czech Republic

Online guide to sources for historians of sciences offers in database basic information on storing of the most important documents in Czechia, substantial for study of the history of sciences, partially also of technology. As the first there is the institution given, where the source is stored (mainly archives, also museums, galleries, libraries). Then the name of the archival fonds follows (according to the evidence in the institution and in the republic database of archival fonds); data on timeframe both of creator lifespan and of documents are included. The database then informs if the archival fonds are processed and how, what type of finding aid is there, how many documents they contain (in linear metres) and in what kind of material. The fonds are also characterised by the Universal Decimal Classification. The short description of the fonds contents is also included, together with the characteristics of its creator (mainly in the case of personal papers).

Czech description

Průvodce po pramenech pro historiky vědy tuzemské i zahraniční, přístupný na internetu, poskytuje základní data o uložení nejvýznamnějších dokumentů v Česku, podstatných pro studium dějin přírodních věd, částečně též technických oborů. Jako první je uveden název instituce, kde je pramen uložen (hlavně archivy, ale též muzea, galerie, knihovny). Dále je uveden název fondu, pod kterým je pramen evidován i v celorepublikové databázi, data o časovém rozmezí jednak existence původce fondu, jednak let, z nichž údaje fondu pocházejí. Zájemce se dozví, je-li fond zpracován (zpřístupněn) a jakou pomůckou, jaké množství dokumentů obsahuje (v běžných metrech) a v jakém typu materiálu. Věcně je fond zařazen pomocí mezinárodního desetinného třídění. Nechybí stručnýpopis obsahu fondu, kterému může předcházet (především v případě osobních fondů) charakteristika jeho původce.
