Refugee Protection in Central and Eastern Europe in History and in the Present
Original language description
The workshop was organized by the European Research Council (ERC) project “Unlikely Refuge? Refugees and Citizens in East-Central Europe in the 20th Century (UnRef)” and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). It aimed to bring together scholars of refugee history and human rights defenders working at international borders in Central and Eastern Europe. Its idea was to establish a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange, fostering mutually beneficial discussions on themes of shared interest. By engaging historians and practitioners, the workshop sought to offer historical insights that can inform the analysis of contemporary refugee and border control policies, as well as advocacy strategies.
