    The summer phytoplantkton communities of three lakes, originated in flooded quarries, were investigated.All lakes were small, wind protected, oligo-or mesotrophic water bodies with high relative depth. Their phytoplankton was dominated by flagellates, forming a heterogeneous distribution with metalimnetic maxima of abundance.
