The most studied mire of the TBBR is Červené Blato bog /Red bog/, an endangered nature reserve where plant and animal species richness, and some key factors affecting its fragile stability have been examined. Special attention was paid to rare relict insect populations and to conditions affecting the survival of the most valuable dominant tree, the bog pine.
