Recent examination of the lectotype of P. schweinfurthii revealed that it actually belongs to another unrelated species. To ensure nomenclatural stability and avoid confusion of literature records, the name P. schweinfurthii is proposed for conservation.

Czech description
Při detailním studiu herbářového materiálu se ukázalo, že lektotyp jména Potamogeton schweinfurthii se ve skutečnosti vztahuje k jinému, nepříbuznému druhu. V zájmu zachování nomenklatorické stability a zamezení chybné interpretace literárních dat byla navržena konzervace jména P. schweinfurthii.
