    The seasonal and diel dynamics of the photosynthetical state and photosynthetic activity of snow algae Chlamydomonas nivalis were investigated in a snowfield in Svalbard. Three types of cell (green biflagellate vegetative cells, orange spores clustered by means of mucialginous sheats, and purple spores with thick cell walls) were found, all of them photosynthetically active.

    Sezonní a denní změny fotosyntetické aktivity sněžné řasy Chlamydomonas nivalis byly měřeny na sněžných polích na Svalbardu. Fotosyntetická aktivita byla měřena pomocí fluorescenčních metod. Byly nalezeny tři typy buněk (zelené dvoubičíkaté vegetativí buňky, růžové spory spojené slizem do kolonií a fialové spory s tlustou buněčnou stěnou) které jsou všwchny fotosynteticky aktivní.
