Estimates of bacterial and phytoplankton mortality caused by viral lysis and microzooplankton grazing in a shallow eutrophic lake

  • Original language description

We estimated the impact of both viral lysis and microzooplankton grazing on mortality of diverse plankton groups-heterotrophic bacteria, filamentous and unicellular cyanobacteria, and eukaryotic algae. Viral lysis was the main mortality cause of filamentous cyanobacteria and heterotrophic bacteria during the winter whereas grazing was identified to cause mortality of unicellular cyanobacteria and heterotrophic bacteria during the spring experiments.

Stanovení mortality bakterií a fytoplanktonu způsobené virovou lyzí a spásáním mikrozooplanktonem v mělkém eutrofním jezeře

  • Czech description

Stanovili jsme vliv virové lyze a spásání mikrozooplanktonem na mortalitu různých skupin planktonu-heterotrofní bakterie, vláknité a jednobuněčné cyanobakterie a eukaryotické řasy. Virová lyze byla hlavní příčinou mortality vláknitých cyanobakterií a heterotrofních bakterií v zimním období, kdežto spásání bylo identifikováno jako hlavní příčina mortality jednobuněčných cyanobakterií a heterotrofních bakterií během jarních experimentů.
