Multiple regenerative strategies of short-lived species: An effect on geographical distribution, preference of human-made habitats and invasive status
Original language description
Root-sprouting short-lived herbs occupy more variable climatic conditions. On the other hand, they are specialists restricted to communities with a certain disturbance regime probably because bud bank formation brings about costs and growth reduction when the disturbance event does not take place. A higher frequency of multiple regeneration strategies, namely adventitious resprouting and production of seeds, among short-lived plant species seems to be restricted by the costs of having this ability in habitats or situations without disturbance.
