Production of dormant stages and stress resistance of polar cyanobacteria
Original language description
Cyanobacteria are commonly considered as the dominant phototrophs in polar terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. Although it is generally assumed that cyanobacteria prefer high temperatures temperatures for growth ( > 20°C), cvyanobacteria are tolerantto cold conditions. They frequently represent the dominant autotrophic organisms with a high productivity an many types of habitats in the Arctic and Antarctic.
