Sub-tundra forests in the West Carpathians (Slovak and Czech Republics) during the Last Glacial Period and in the NW Europe in the Holocene
Original language description
On the basis of the pollen- and partly macroremains analyses the vegetation development for the region of West Carpathians during the Last Glacial Period was palaeoreconstructed. It was found that some parts of West Carpathians had character of forest tundra in most cold periods. In that time Larix, Betula and partly Pinus cembra prevailed. In more warm and humid climatic changes, forest of northern taiga type with Picea prevailed. In the N Europe (Sweden-Lapland, locality Abisko and NW Russia - Kola Peninsula, locality Nikel) vegetation development for Holocene Period was palaeoreconstructed. Changes from sub-arctic tundra, Pinus forest tundra and Betula forest/shrub tundra were defined.
