We have written a book review on new phycoloical literature Diatoms of the United States 1. written by J.P. Kociolek et al. 2014 and edited as 61st Volume of Bibliotheca Diatomologica. The book gives description of 62 taxa found in sediment samples fromwestern U.S. lakes. From this count 48 species are described as new and for 2 taxa new names have been proposed. Our paper underlines some problems connected with description of new species.
