Original language description
A new arbuscular mycorrhizal species, Acaulospora papillosa, was isolated from a coastal tropical Atlantic forest Northeastern Brazil. This species was morphologically described and its phylogenetic position was clarified using rDNA. The spore surface of A. papillosa is roughened as crowded with fine papillae and the fungus clusters together with several smallspored Acaulospora species, among others A. rugosa, the phylogenetic placement and spore morphology of which is provided.
