Methoxychlor and vinclozolin induce rapid changes in intercellular and intracellular signaling in liver progenitor cells
Original language description
Endocrine disruptors interfere with physiological hormonal regulations. We showed using mammalian cell cultures that endocrine disruptors methoxychlor and vinclozolin can elicit effects also independently of estrogen- or androgen-receptor. In this way, they can disrupt gap junctional intercellular communication or activity of signal transduction enzymes. These findings improve our understanding about mode of action of these important environmental contaminants and their human health impacts.
