Original language description
A new centric diatom, Cyclotella longirimoportulata sp. nov., is described from Alalay Pond, a shallow, eutrophic urban ecosystem in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The length of the rimoportula in the new taxon is variable, but it is longer than that of Cyclotella meneghiniana of the type or some other populations depicted in literature. Morphological characteristics, as well as the ecological preference of the new taxon are discussed based on published and newly collected data.
