A perspective on the need for integrated frameworks linking species distribution and dynamic forest landscape models across spatial scales

  • Original language description

Climate change significantly affects species distributions, with traditional species distribution models often using coarse resolutions, which fail to capture fine dynamics in forest ecosystems. Integrating species distribution models with dynamic forest landscape models allows for a more detailed understanding of the impacts of disturbances on forest landscapes and their biodiversity, but applying this approach to larger scales while maintaining fine resolution remains a challenge. Future research should prioritize addressing these challenges to better understand the factors influencing species distributions and effectively design conservation strategies in the context of a changing climate.
