The Risk Consequences of Information Society.

  • Original language description

The ambivalent social and cultural consequences of modernity are assessed on example of the contexts of informatization - both local and global implications are generating risks. Social risks are connected with new uncertainties and structural changes created by new information technologies. Striking are the examples of segmentation, unemployment, solidarity lacks and/or culture of mass entertainment. It seems plausible that the very effort to control risk by the vested power interests is creating and producing more new risks and problematic consequences.
