Between Truth and Beauty. Symposium 194e ? 201c
Original language description
The article presents the interpretation of Plato's Symposium as the central text of tragic thought that reflects the dispute between Gorgias from Leontinoi and Plato. The first section offers a methodological introduction and overview of speechces that precede the central duel between Agathon and Socrates. The second part explains the speech of Agathon on the grounds of gorgianic philosophy of power. The third part interprets the dialogue between Socrates and Agathon as Plato's summary of the position and method of historical Socrates. The last section demonstrates Platos selfreflexion between powerfull beauty and violent truth. Plato's solution is desire for the beautifull truth.
