Memory, Politics, and Holy Relics. Catholic Tactics amidst the Bohemian Reformation
Original language description
In the Middle Ages holy relics were important vehicles of public memory. The article focuses on the uses of relics and traditional religious practices by the pro-Catholic side during early period of Utraquism (the Compactate period, 1436-1439). It shedslight at cultic ceremonies, performed by bishop Phillibert of Coutances, the Council's legate to Bohemia, with the aim to return Utraquist Prague back to Catholicism.
