In 1920, Plečnik designed a hippodrome and obelisk, attributes of ancient Roman residence of the highest order, for the so called Paradise Garden of the Prague castle. It may be argued that, in his work for the president Masaryk, Plečnik took inspirationalso in the imperial palace on the Palatin Hill, Rome.
