Labour and Time. Karel Kosík’s Temporal Materialism
Original language description
This chapter concerns Karel Kosík’s critique of phenomenology and more specifically of Martin Heidegger’s fundamental ontology. It deals with his thesis, according to which labour constitutes human time in its three-dimensions (past, present, future). This claim, intended to undermine Heidegger’s conception of original temporality, is further restated in a doctrine of temporal materialism, whose core consists in a descriptive analysis of the “ecstasis” of the labouring process that is in itself structured as product, producing, and intention, and further in derivation of temporal dimsensions out of these three aspects.
