Optics and Natural Philosophy in Late Medieval Vienna. Manuscripts, Texts, Authors
Original language description
Besides logic and metaphysics, the medieval faculties of arts taught also natural philosophy, physics and mathematics. The research of Lukáš Lička examines medieval optics and light theories. He found ample evidence for a lively interest in these sciences also at the University of Vienna in the 14th and 15th centuries. In his talk, he will present newly discovered texts on optics which resulted from academic exercises in Vienna and which offer a rich image of the interest in the sciences in medieval Vienna.
