The Czechoslovak-Polish Club in Brno (1925?1939)
Original language description
This study examines the phenomenon of Czechoslovak-Polish solidarity using the Czechoslovak-Polish Club in Brno as an example. The Club set as its goals the establishment and cultivation of friendly international relations and acquainting members with Polish culture. A high-quality member base, the support of representatives of the city of Brno, of Masaryk University, and of official places in Prague and Warsaw made it possible to successfully fulfill the goals they had set. Although the gradual worsening in Czechoslovak-Polish state relations starting in 1934 did not directly bring about the end of the club's manifold activities, going against the political current proved to be a difficult task even for the tried-and-true Polonophiles of Brno. The German occupation during the years of the Second World War then represented the definitive demise of the Czechoslovak-Polish Club in Brno.
