Preparation of the Helsinki Conference and the Diplomacy of Socialist Czechoslovakia, 1972-1975
Original language description
Study is the first attempt of analyse a diplomatic Activities of new Czechoslovak “normalized” regime, based on declassified Czechoslovak documents, in the years of preparations of the Conference of European Security and Cooperation, which resulted in signature of Final Act in Helsinki in 1975. Husák´s regime of course supported Soviet initiatives toward European Conference. It had, however, its own political goals, to strengthen the position Czechoslovak side in the negotiations with Western Germany about non-validity of Munich agreement and its consequences. In this sense was interpreted Final Act from Helsinki, as another confirmation of inter-state boundaries and its immutability.
