Saint Ignacius of Loyola, Patron Saint of Expectant Mothers
Original language description
Saint Ignatius of Loyola lives in consciousness as the founder of the Society of Jesus, he was honored as a saint healing the sick and wounded, but also as the patron saint of mothers. Not only the images of the saint but also the miraculous „Ignatian“ water contributed to the easy birth. The article attempts to clarify where this competence comes from and how it spread in the Christian world and mingled with artifacts on the border of superstition.
