The article deals with the evaluation of the Bohemian Estates Uprising of 1618-1620 in the context of the fall of the Estates system and the rise of absolutism, on the one hand, and the reception of the key event (the Battle of White Mountain 1620 and its consequences) in present time, on the other hand. It contributes to the understanding of the actualization and instrumentalization of history at the beginning of the 21st century.
