The paper concentrates its attention on the partial issue of relationship between social and environmental pillars of sustainable development strategy. The first part summarizes the main methodological problems. The second part utilizes the definition ofeco-industry prepared by OECD and Eurostat experts and characterizes employment in eco-industry of the Czech Republic in the period 1999 - 2007.
