Original language description
We found that oligoguanine runs stacked in the same way in a arallel-stranded DNA tetraplex, an aqueous DNA duplex and a duplex adopted by RNA. Hence the oligoguanine run is a conformational invariant, which could make the RNA-to-DNA world transition possible. In addition, the RNA-like coinformation of the guanine runs is likely to influence both replication and transcription because polymerases switch the DNA template into the RNA-like conformation wherever they copy the genetic information
