    Comparative genomics and repetitive sequence divergence in the species of diploid Nicotiana section Alatae

    In this paper we have studied chromosome structure, organization of repeated sequences in cell nucleus and their divergence among several members of Nicotiana species, section Alatae. While the plastid genome showed little sequence divergence, there wassubstantial chromosomal repatterning including altered chromosome numbers, structure and distribution of satellite repeats and evolution of species-specific intergenic spacers of 35S rDNA.

    V této práci jsme studovali strukturu chromosomů, organizaci repetitivních sekvencí DNA v buněčném jádře a jejich divergenci v průběhu evoluce rostlin rodu Nicotiana v sekci alatae. Bylo zjištěno, že zatímco chloroplastový genom je u těchto druhů velmi konzervován, jaderný genom vykazuje rychlou evoluci, která je charakterizována rozdíly v morfologii a počtu chrosomů, struktuře a distribuci satelitních sekvencí DNA a vznikem druhově-specifických intergenových mezerníků 35S rDNA.
