The effects of H1-antihistamines on the nitric oxide production by RAW 264.7 cells with respect to their lipophilicity
Original language description
In this study we demonstrated that the structural properties of H1-antihistamines, particularly lipophilicity, significantly affect the biological activity of macrophages. These drugs are able to modulate NO production in vitro by macrophage cell line RAW 264.7 stimulated by LPS. The modulation shown in this study could be caused by the downregulation of iNOS protein expression or by iNOS enzyme activity.
