Recognition of non-canonical DNA structures in genomic DNA sequences by p53 proteins
Original language description
The human genome contains a chromosomal DNA that exists primarily as a right-handed double helix (canonical DNA), but DNA can also forms unusual DNA structures, such as DNA cruciforms, triplexes, hairpins, TNT repeats and others. Tumor suppressor proteinp53 and its mutant alternatives are able to recognize these non-canonical DNAs as well as supercoiled DNA.
